An online workshop for teachers
2-3pm 10th July, plus optional practical 3-3.30pm
Skills for settling stressed and anxious students.
More and more students are arriving in class feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or checked out.
They might not say it, but what they’re experiencing is often nervous system dysregulation.
This happens when the body’s stress response gets stuck in “on” or “off” mode—due to chronic stress, trauma, or anxiety, and it makes it hard to stay present, feel safe, or fully engage.
As yoga teachers, we’re in a unique position to help. But to do so, we need to go beyond just offering “calm” and learn how to work with the nervous system.
In this experiential workshop, you’ll:
Learn to support students with stress, anxiety, ADHD, or trauma using simple but powerful nervous system- informed strategies.
This live + recorded workshop gives you the practical tools, teaching language, and class structure ideas you need to teach inclusively and start your classes in a way that supports safety, calm, and connection.
- Learn how and why the nervous system becomes dysregulated, and how this shows up in class
- Understand the “window of tolerance” and how trauma, anxiety, and stress can narrow it
- Explore up- and down-regulating tools that help students find balance and safety
- Explore somatic movements that can bridge the way to parasympathetic arousal.
- Discover why the usual breathing techniques can create more stress.
- Understand the role of the vagus nerve and what approaches to stimulating the vagus work best.
- Discover the power of pausing, to notice, reset, and choose with intention.
- Feel confident with strategies to settle a student in distress or disassociation (trauma response) or to ease hyper arousal and panic.
This isn’t just theory, you’ll also be guided through real-time practices, with the option to explore them further in small breakout groups, where you can:
- Reflect on how the tools land in your body
- Share ideas with fellow teachers
- Practice adapting them for your own teaching context
Whether you’re new to nervous system-aware teaching or ready to go deeper, this session will help you teach with more confidence, sensitivity, and clarity.
Replay available if you can’t attend live. If you are catching up with a recording, we'll send you an improved version of the replay. You'll get all the juicy learning plus an extra section that offers step-by-step instructions for how to work through the exercise solo.
